Why we build on Squarespace — and why that matters for you.

Every HLG StartingPointe website is built on Squarespace. We chose it because it gives small business owners the best balance of professional design, long-term ease of use, and real value for the investment. This isn’t a default choice — it’s an informed one.

HLG StartingPointe holds a Squarespace Circle Gold membership — one of the highest partner tiers available. That means everything in this training was built with the deepest available knowledge of the platform your site lives on.

What Circle Gold means for your site
  • Circle Gold is earned through a high volume of quality builds — not purchased. Squarespace recognizes partners who consistently deliver.
  • Priority access to Squarespace support means issues that affect your site get escalated faster.
  • Early access to new platform features means we can take advantage of tools before they’re widely available.
  • Your site was built by a certified expert with a verified track record on this platform.
  • When you call us with a Squarespace question, you’re calling someone who has already solved it — many times.

You chose the right platform. This training will make sure you can use it with confidence.

Before you explore — please read this.

Please do not make any changes to your website until you have completed the full training.

Your site is currently live and visible to the public. Squarespace's editor gives you direct access to every page, every setting, and every piece of content your visitors see. A well-intentioned edit — a button click in the wrong panel, an accidental save, a settings change — can alter or remove content from your live site immediately, with no confirmation step and no automatic undo.

We want you to feel confident and in control of your site. That confidence comes from completing the training in order. The modules are designed to walk you through each area before you touch it. Until then, please treat the dashboard as read-only — explore and familiarize yourself, but do not save, publish, or change anything.

If something on your site needs to be updated before your training is complete, contact StartingPointe and we will handle it.  Contact Us →

Module 1

Getting In: Administrator Access

Lesson 1.1

How to Log In to Your Website

Your dashboard is where all the magic happens — but first you have to get through the door. There are two reliable ways to reach your Squarespace login every time.

Method 1 — Go straight to the login page:

  1. Open any browser and go to squarespace.com/login. Bookmark this address so you always have it handy.

  2. Enter the email address and password tied to your Squarespace account and click Log In.

  3. If you manage more than one site, you'll land on an account dashboard showing all of them. Check the site title and preview image to make sure you're on the right one, then click Go To Website to enter that site's editor.

Method 2 — Log in directly from your site URL:

  1. Type your website address into the browser — for example, yoursite.com.

  2. At the end of the address, add /config so it reads yoursite.com/config, then press Enter.

  3. If you're already logged into Squarespace, this drops you straight into your site editor. If not, you'll be prompted to log in first.

💡 Tip Squarespace keeps you logged in for up to 30 days unless you log out or clear your browser cookies. The /config shortcut is the fastest way back in when you're already on your site and want to jump to editing.
Forgot your password? Click Forgot Password? on the login screen. Squarespace sends a reset link to your registered email address. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
Lesson 1.2

Navigating the Dashboard Overview

Once you're in, you'll see the main control panel — a vertical menu running along the left side of the screen. Here's what each section does.

  1. Pages — This is where you manage the content structure of your website: every page, blog, events calendar, or store page lives here.

  2. Design — Controls the visual styling of your site (fonts, colors, button styles). You'll rarely need this day-to-day unless you're updating your look.

  3. Commerce / Products & Services — If your site has a store, this is your hub for products, orders, shipping, discounts, and inventory.

  4. Marketing — Email campaigns, SEO settings, and promotional pop-ups live here.

  5. Analytics — Shows traffic, popular pages, and revenue at a glance.

  6. Contacts — Everyone who has submitted a form, placed an order, or subscribed on your site appears here.

  7. Settings — Site-wide preferences: your domain, billing, permissions, and connected accounts.

💡 Tip If you ever get lost, look for the question mark (?) icon in the corner — Squarespace's built-in help search is available from any panel.
Lesson 1.3

Understanding Pages vs. Settings

New users often confuse the Pages panel with Settings. They do very different things — here's how to keep them straight.

  1. Pages is for your content — what visitors can see. Click here when you want to update text, images, events, blog posts, or store products. Think of it as your front-of-house.

  2. Settings is for how your site operates behind the scenes: your domain, connected accounts, site permissions, checkout behavior, and billing. Think of it as your back-of-house.

  3. To edit visible content, always start in Pages. To change how the site works — billing, passwords, connected tools — go to Settings.

🔐 Permissions Note As a site Administrator, you have full access to both areas, including billing and user management. If you've invited a team member as a Content Editor, they'll only see Pages and design tools — not your billing or settings.
